Empowering business owners to build the life, business, and legacy they desire.
I graduated from the University of Georgia in 1986 with a degree in Psychology and became a salesman for a building company in Atlanta. During this time, I married my beautiful wife, Stephanie, and served in the Army National Guard. After five years of learning about products and the building industry – all while raising an infant daughter – I decided to start a general construction business so that I could work for myself (I’d wanted to be an entrepreneur since high school). In the twelve months that the construction business survived, I discovered that industry knowledge is not the same as business knowledge. That experience taught me the foundations of self-employment, owning a business, managing family life, and much more. I knew I wanted to continue to work for myself, so when the opportunity came to move back to the home of my alma mater and purchase a local business, my family and I took another leap. I purchased Christian Roofing and Remodeling in 1994, just eight years out of college. I am a living learner and recognized my need for additional formal education, so I re-enrolled at UGA and took business classes while transitioning the company to my leadership. Over the 24 years I owned the business, we experienced a 9.8% annualized growth without using telemarketers or high-pressure sales tactics, and maintained very little marketing expenses. I had the systems and processes in place that allowed the company to survive the recession as well as my absence from the company while I battled cancer. We experienced a multitude of awards and recognition, including being nominated by the Chamber of Commerce as “Business of the Year” in 2004, named to the prestigious Bulldog 100 in 2011 and again in 2012 for substantial sustained growth, recognized by Remodeling Magazine as one of the “Big 50,” and named “One of the Best Places to Work” by Qualified Remodeler. Alongside these honors, one of my major accomplishments has been learning to maintain a thriving business without sacrificing time or a relationship with my family.
I give business owners the tools and encouragement needed to achieve a healthy work-life balance and grow their business using principles I’ve learned first-hand.
Nurturing my marriage and relationships with my three children, leading multiple small groups through my church, and staying active in our community are all extremely important aspects of my life. As a business owner, I had the opportunity to coach employees and fellow business owners, giving them the tools and encouragement needed to achieve a healthy work-life balance and grow their business using principles I’d learned first-hand. Earning my master’s degree in Life Coaching, and successfully selling Christian Roofing and Remodeling, has allowed me to use my innate skills and pursue one of my passions: empowering business owners to build the life, business, and legacy they desire.
